North of Manhattan is a fluid, collaborative music project emerging from NO MA Studio in New York — a space where rotating lineups of creative musicians come together to experiment, improvise, and build modern, expressive music.

There’s no fixed line up, no rigid formula. Each release is shaped by the chemistry of whoever’s playing, blending ideas and capturing the kind of spontaneous interplay that can only happen between great players responding to each other.

Debut Single — “Talkin, New York”

The first release brings together Liam Wade (bass, guitar), Chris Ward (saxophone), and Ian Menard (drums) for an improvised, impressionistic piece — layers of phrases, textures, and rhythmic gestures evolving into a fluid, jazz-leaning snapshot of three musicians in a New York conversation.
